PLCU serves jazz for breakfast at free concert
The award-winning Chaparral High School String Orchestra conducted a free concert at Point Loma Credit Union’s Temecula branch on Saturday, May 16, 2009. The credit union also served a complimentary continental breakfast.
“We’re proud to have our members and guests entertained by such an accomplished group of young musicians,” said Jessica Smith, Temecula branch manager. “Their hard work and dedication to music is apparent whenever they perform.”
The orchestra has earned national acclaim, performing in New York and at an invitation-only concert at Boston Symphony Hall. The only high school string orchestra in southwest Riverside County, it won first place gold, an award for outstanding orchestra, and the adjudicator’s award at the Heritage Music Festival competition in San Francisco last year.
